Veterans Appreciation Day Print
Saturday, June 04 2016

WHAT: In an effort to strengthen Boy Scouts’ Duty to Country, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is teaming up with several veteran organizations, including The West Virginia National Guard, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Wounded Warrior Project, to host a Veterans Appreciation Day at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

The event consists of two segments, first a day filled with competitions of invited participants from our Veteran Non-Profits, Active Duty Military and local Boy Scouts who will compete in events testing their wheelchair adeptness, coordination, and endurance. The activities are designed to give veterans a fun way to celebrate their service while enabling Scouts to gain even more appreciation and respect for veterans and their families. Second, there will be an evening concert and is open to all veterans and their families. Exhibits, food vendors, and kid activities will also be available in the stadium.

WHO: Hundreds of Veterans, their family members and Scouts who pre-register for the event via our website. Cooperating/sponsoring organizations include: the West Virginia Army National Guard and National Air Guard, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Wounded Warrior Project, and other Veteran Non-profit organizations.
