Health Services Career Explorer Post Open House Print

A local group of health care professionals have joined together to create a Health Services Career Explorer Post in Morgantown. This group includes physicians, nurses, first responders, lab technicians, public health professionals, and many other healthcare career workers. It is directed toward introducing high school students to health services careers.

The Health Services Careers Explorer Post will meet one evening each month (other than June, July, and August), and will provide hands-on exposure to a variety of aspects of the health services industry. Career Exploring is for high school students ages 14-20. (Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature on their application form). The participants will help determine program topics. Likely topics will include but are not limited to, emergency services and care, veterinary care, pathology, lab services in the hospital, simulation labs with physicians, nurses, and others.

OPEN HOUSE! The Health Services Careers Explorer Post will meet at the Health Science Center on the Third Wednesday of every month 7:00 PM through 8:30 PM.

The first Meeting will be on Wednesday November 16, starting at 7pm.

Where: WVU Physician’s Office Center, Room 4A/B – this is in the building to the Left of Ruby Memorial (if you are looking from the Stadium). Take the POC elevator to floor 4 and turn right out of the elevator nook, room 4A/B will be on your left. Future meetings may be held at other locations as to maximize experiential opportunities.

  2. Explorer Application Form - We will have paper copies at the meeting, or online at: http://www.exploring.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/EXPL-Youth-App-619579.pdf to print and bring along with you. Parent/guardian signature required if under 18 years of age.
  3. $28 Dues check payable to “MAC BSA” for dues through December, 2017.
