2016 Annual Morgantown Christmas Parade - Monday, Dec 12th – 6:30 PM - Parade start

All Mountaineer Area Council Cub Scout and Boy Scout Units and volunteers from Mon, Marion, Preston and Taylor Counties are cordially invited to participate in the 2016 Annual Morgantown Jaycees Christmas Parade on Monday, December 12th beginning at 6:30 PM.
Vehicle traffic will be blocked from getting to the Parade route area near Prospect and High Streets at 5:30 PM.

It would be best to get to the North High Street area between Wesley United Methodist Church and the Mountainlair Plaza prior to 5:30 PM. We will need to know if you will have any vehicles or floats in the parade. There are to be no flammable items such as flame candles, hay bales, etc. It is recommended that all Scouts and Leaders be in uniform. We hope to get Scout units down in the first three divisions. Girl Scouts and Brownies are also welcome, so pass it on.

This year we are honoring all veteran service men and women. We are especially honoring veterans from World War II and Pearl Harbor. The Morgantown High School “Red and Blue” Marching Band will be returning a couple days earlier from commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor and those whom served with the U.S.S. West Virginia. We expect to have 9 to 10 bands in the parade as well. The Parade should end around 7:45 to 8:00 PM. Parking is available in all the City lots and garages. Remember to still pay for parking.

Show up and you will be in the Christmas Parade. However, it would be very helpful if a Unit leader or volunteer would E-Mail, no later than December 2nd, to Christmas Parade chairs, Mike and Ruth Hopkins, at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with information on your Unit, i.e., Pack or Troop Unit #, Sponsoring organization, where and when you meet, and any projects you might be involved with within your unit or with the community.

This will help us if we have a parade TV narrator. We will be videoing the parade for possible re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 3 or 14 and on YouTube. Should you have any questions, feel free to call Hoppy at 304-31-4391.

So, come out and enjoy a great winter evening in Morgantown. Bring your U.S. Flag, Unit flags and banners and dress warmly and appropriately. Stay to watch the Parade and Santa Claus (hint: watch from below the Met Theater to the Courthouse Square).
