How this local training relates to National Camping School Certification – This course allows those certified to exercise all of the privileges of National Camping School Certification, but only at Camp Mountaineer. Certification is for a two year period.

Those attending the full scheduled time both weekends will be certified as COPE Level 2, and Climbing level 1.

Schedule for each weekend:  Friday, 6 pm to 9 pm; Saturday 9 am to 9 pm; and Sunday 9 am to 3 pm. Lunch will be served on Saturday and Sunday, and Dinner will be served on Saturday.

May 29-31 – Level 1 Ropes – General Ropes Instructor (good for Level 1 COPE and Climbing), with certification to be valid for two years.  Also, Climb on Safety training cards will be issued to all participants. Those completing this course need not attend the second weekend unless they desire to earn COPE Level 2 certification. Those 19 and 20 year olds may attend the second weekend, but they cannot exercise Level 2 privileges until they become 21 years old.

June 5-7 – Level 2 COPE – COPE Specific Level 2 training. Requires attendance at  BOTH weekends.

Registration Fee: $35 per person for both weekends. $20 for first weekend only.

Those completing this course and earning the certifications will be qualified to work summer camp and/or weekends at Camp Mountaineer involving COPE, Climbing, and zip line activities, and be paid for this.
