Distinguished Eagle Scout Award

It is with great pleasure that I announce that the National Eagle Scout Association has chosen Wesley W. Metheney to receive the rank and dignity of Distinguished Eagle Scout. Wes has had a very successful career. He has been recognized as one of the top lawyers in West Virginia. Before that he was a successful landscape architect. Throughout his adult life he has been a huge supporter and volunteer in Scouting and has been a very active supporter of both professional associations and other non-profit organizations working to make our community better. Wes will tell you that becoming an Eagle Scout molded him into the man that he is today. We are so proud and grateful to have Wes Metheney as an active member of our Council and such a strong supporter of Scouting!

The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award was established in 1969 to acknowledge Eagle Scouts who have distinguished themselves on a national level, receiving recognition or eminence within their field and who have a strong record of voluntary service to their community. Only Eagle Scouts who earned the Eagle Scout rank a minimum of 25 years previously are eligible for nomination. The award is granted by the National Eagle Scout Association upon the recommendation of a committee of Distinguished Eagle Scouts.

Stay tuned for more information on when we will be formally presenting the award to Wes.

Yours in Scouting,
