Morgantown Christmas Parade
2017 Annual Morgantown Christmas Parade - Monday, Dec 4th – 6:30 PM - Parade start

All Mountaineer Area Council Cub Scout and Boy Scout Units and volunteers from Mon, Marion, Preston and Taylor Counties are cordially invited to participate in the 2017 Annual Morgantown Jaycees Christmas Parade on Monday, December 4 beginning at 6:30 PM.

Show up and you will be in the Christmas Parade. However, it would be very helpful if a Unit leader or volunteer would E-Mail, no later than December 1, to Christmas Parade chairs, Mike and Ruth Hopkins, at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   with information on your Unit, i.e., Pack or Troop Unit #, Sponsoring organization, where and when you meet, and any projects you might be involved with within your unit or with the community.

This info will help us if we have a parade TV narrator. We will be videoing the parade for possible re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 3 or 14 and on You Tube. Should you have any questions, feel free to call Hoppy at 304-319-4391.

So, come out and enjoy a great winter evening in Morgantown. Bring your U.S. Flag, Unit flags and banners and dress warmly and appropriately.  Stay to watch the Parade and Santa Claus (hint: watch from below the Met Theater to the Courthouse Square).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Vehicle traffic will be blocked from getting to the Parade route area near Prospect and High Streets at 5:30 PM

It would be best to get to the North High Street area between Wesley United Methodist Church and the Mountainlair Plaza prior to 5:30 PM. We will need to know if you will have any vehicles or floats in the parade. There are to be no flammable items such as flame candles, hay bales, etc. It is recommended that all Scouts and Leaders be in uniform. Dress for the weather. We hope to get Scout units down in the first three divisions.

This year we are honoring former notable retired Middle and High School Band Directors that have made a tremendous positive impact on young student musicians in Mon County, such as, Mr. John Brosky, Mr. Mark Cappellini, Mr. Keith Lee, Mr. Mike Roberts.

The Morgantown High School “Red and Blue” Marching Band will be Santa’s Honor Band. We expect to have 9 to 10 bands + in the parade as well. The Parade should end around 7:45 to 8:00 PM. Parking is available in all the City lots and garages.  Remember to still pay for parking.

Should we have to change the date of the Parade due to an extreme weather forecast, the make-up date for the Parade is Thursday, Dec 7.  For the most part, we do not change the date unless absolutely necessary. Should the date change, the decision would be made by Dec 1, and everyone participating would be contacted. Otherwise, plan for Dec 4.
