2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree

Registration for the 2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree is officially under way.  Mountaineer Area Council will be sending a troop of 36 scouts and 4 adult leaders to Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts in America.  The Jamboree is from July 25 - August 5, 2010.  Final dates for the entire trip will be provided later.

Registration can be completed on-line at www.bsajamboree.org .  The registration fee is $10, and you will need your BSA registration number to complete the form. For scouts, complete the registration, have it signed by your scoutmaster, and submit it with a $100 deposit to the MAC BSA office at PO Box 388, Fairmont, WV 26555.  Registration is first-come, first-served basis.

On the way to the Jamboree, there will be a bus trip to Washington, DC visiting national monuments and museums.  Thousands of other scouts will be in Washington, DC at the same time.  Jamboree activities include the Merit Badge Midway, Brownsea Island (a re-creationof Baden Powell's original Scout camp), arena shows, patch trading, and more!

Eligibility and Costs

Scougts who will be age 12 and who are at least First Class as of 7/1/2010 are eligible to apply.  The total cost is estimated at $1600 which includes the jamboree registration fee, food, lodging and transportation for the entire trip.  Participants will be in $100 installments on a monthly basis.  Restrictions apply and refunds are not guaranteed.  Some scholarship funds are available.
